The film follows the Candlewood family —Carly, Andrew, and their young son Danny—who travel to a remote hacienda in Mexico for a vacation meant to help them heal from the recent loss of an unborn daughter. Upon arrival, they notice numerous flyers for missing children in the local town. They soon realize they are being stalked by La Llorona , a malevolent spirit known as the "Weeping Woman" who targets children to replace her own lost offspring.
