St. Pauli: German football's cult club explained - Bundesliga
In December 1987, Hamburg's St. Pauli district was transitioning into a "cult" destination, merging alternative subcultures, anti-fascist fan activism at Millerntor Stadium, and the radical politics of the Hafenstraße squats. Concurrently, FC St. Pauli was securing its position in the 2. Bundesliga, laying the groundwork for a historic promotion during the 1987/88 season.
