Ted Stroehmann, still haunted by a disastrous 1985 date, hires a private investigator to track down his high school crush, Mary Jensen, in Miami thirteen years later. However, the PI falls for Mary himself and lies to Ted, prompting Ted to travel to Florida and confront a tangled web of deceit involving other obsessed suitors. In the end, after all the deceptions are revealed, Mary chooses the honest Ted over the rest, leading to a romantic conclusion.
