Pitch Black , released in 2000, is a science fiction horror film directed by David Twohy. The movie stars Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, and Cole Hauser. It serves as the first installment in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise. The story takes place on a planet called Pitch Black, where survivors of a spaceship crash must fend off monstrous creatures known as the Necromongers that only come out at night.
