The film follows an ancient, immortal sage, Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer), who runs a traveling theater troupe in modern-day London. Centuries ago, he made a deal with the Devil, Mr. Nick (Tom Waits), trading immortality for youth to win the love of a mortal woman.
