François Ozon’s 2012 psychological thriller, In the House , is a masterful exploration of the blurred lines between reality and fiction, the ethics of storytelling, and the predatory nature of voyeurism. Adapted from Juan Mayorga’s play The Boy in the Last Row , the film centers on the relationship between Germain, a disillusioned high school literature teacher, and Claude, a precocious 16-year-old student who infiltrates the home of a classmate to find "material" for his writing assignments.

The film operates as a meta-narrative where the act of writing becomes a tool for manipulation. Claude’s essays, which always end with the tantalizing hook "To be continued...", draw Germain into a dangerous game of literary coaching. As Germain encourages Claude to refine his prose and push the boundaries of his intrusion into the Artole family, the teacher evolves from a mentor into a co-conspirator and, ultimately, a victim of the very story he helped craft.
