Initially intended as a Fleetwood Mac project, the album moved forward as a duet when Stevie Nicks chose not to participate due to her solo commitments. Despite her absence, the record features the band's "classic" rhythm section— and John McVie —and was recorded at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, the same studio where Tusk was tracked.
