It turned out that the outlaw leader had been a boarder at the ranch many years ago, and Mary Jane had taken him in and helped him get back on his feet. He had never forgotten her kindness and had been tracking her down ever since, to repay her in his own way.

And set out she did. At the age of 19, Jesse Jane left Drygulch with a group of outlaws, seeking fortune and excitement in the lawless territories of the West. Mary Jane was devastated, but she also knew that her daughter was making a choice that would ultimately define who she was meant to be.

Mary Jane had always been a bit of a mystery herself. A former schoolteacher from back East, she had moved to Drygulch with her husband, a kind-hearted man named John, in search of a fresh start. They had settled on a small ranch just outside of town, where they raised their daughter, Jesse Jane. Tragedy struck when John passed away suddenly, leaving Mary Jane to care for their young daughter alone.

As the years went by, Jesse Jane's legend continued to grow, but she never forgot her roots. She returned to Drygulch whenever she could, spending time with her mother and reconnecting with the place and the people she loved. And though she never lost her taste for adventure, she came to appreciate the value of family and the unwavering support of her mother, Mary Jane.

Over the years, Jesse Jane became a legendary figure, robbing banks and trains, and evading lawmen at every turn. But despite her tough exterior, she never forgot the lessons her mother had taught her. She remained fiercely loyal to those she cared about and always stuck to her guns, even when the stakes were high.

Mary Jane smiled, her eyes shining with tears. "I'm just proud of the woman you've become, Jesse Jane. You've always had a wild heart, but you've also got a good soul. I couldn't have asked for a better daughter."
