The story follows three fifth-graders who sneak into their school late at night to perform a ritual intended to curse a fellow student. The ritual backfires, summoning the vengeful spirit of Hanako—a girl who, according to local rumors, bled to death in the third-floor bathroom's third stall while holding a large knife. Separated from her friends, the protagonist must navigate the haunted school to find them and escape the curse.
