Set during World War II, the story follows (Robert Shaw) and explosives expert Sergeant "Dusty" Miller (Edward Fox) as they are sent to Yugoslavia. Their primary mission is to identify and eliminate a German spy who infiltrated the Yugoslav Partisans. To reach their destination, they attach themselves to "Force 10," an elite American sabotage unit led by Lieutenant Colonel Mike Barnsby (Harrison Ford), whose own mission is to destroy a strategically vital bridge and dam.
