The (Danube Circle Dance) is a cornerstone of Bulgarian cultural identity, widely regarded as the most popular folk dance in the country. Composed by Diko Iliev in 1937, this brass band masterpiece from the Northern (Severnyashka) ethnographic region has evolved from a local military band tune into a "pan-Bulgarian" anthem traditionally played to celebrate the arrival of every New Year.
