The first issue explores the historical roots of Vlad the Impaler , his war with the Turks, and his transformation into a monstrous figure. It is known for its gruesome, atmospheric artwork and depictions of Vlad's infamous "forest of the impaled".

Billed as a "Dracula story that has not been told before," it focuses on aspects of the character alluded to in Bram Stoker's novel without being a direct adaptation.

It is intended as the first of a four-book series . Historical Report: Vlad III "The Impaler"

The character in the comic is based on the real-life (1431–1476/77), the Voivode of Wallachia.

This graphic novel series, created by and Kelley Jones , was successfully funded via Kickstarter and released around late 2024.
