Elias, a traditional archivist, begins to experience memory loss when he downloads a digital version of Susanna Kearsley’s The Vanished Days to help a client with a supposed inheritance mystery. As he reads, the story changes to communicate directly with him, with each interaction causing him to lose time in his real life, forcing him to finish the book to stop the erasure of his existence.
