The film begins with Ben returning to a normal, "school-failing" life after his summer of heroics. After a fight with a robotic tank—during which a spell from Gwen causes the Omnitrix to malfunction—Ben is grounded by his parents. He takes an opportunity to "get away from it all" with his friend , but soon finds himself stuck in his alien forms and hunted by a deadly Mechamorph .
