Click and drag from the top ruler for a horizontal guide or the left ruler for a vertical guide.
Press Cmd + R (Mac) or Ctrl + R (Windows) to see the rulers.
Select any shape or path and go to View > Guides > Make Guides (Shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + 5 ) to turn it into a custom guide.
